<p><strong>Our client has retained Resource Executive Search to lead a highly Confidential search </strong><strong>for the position of Controller. This multi-billion dollar company has provided </strong><strong>distribution, service and commitment to the retail and Wholesale Grocery Industry for </strong><strong>over 60 years. Located in the South central region of the United States, our client is </strong><strong>known for a tradition of high integrity and customer service. Our client services the </strong><strong>retail grocery and wholesale independent grocery businesses. To serve those diverse </strong><strong>customers, the company operates multiple distribution facilities (20) and it’s own fleet </strong><strong>of tractors and trailers.</strong></p>
<p><strong>The company is currently undergoing a positive transformation to become more </strong><strong>process oriented, efficient and value added for their growing customer base. The </strong><strong>addition of multiple senior executives from top companies across the industry has </strong><strong>created momentum and excitement for our client, their customers and their vendors. </strong><strong>This position will be a central and critical position on the leadership team and will be </strong><strong>expected to deliver systemic process and leadership to shape the growth and future </strong><strong>design of the business.</strong></p>
<p><strong>THE POSITION:</strong></p>
<p><strong>The Controller will report to the CFO and will be responsible for the production and </strong><strong>delivery of accurate and timely financial statements in a properly functioning internal </strong><strong>control environment. This leadership role will require a strong knowledge base of </strong><strong>accounting in the grocery industry segments mentioned above. The hired candidate will </strong><strong>recognize that the first 24 months of employment will require critical attention to </strong><strong>tactical operations including evaluating process and the timely delivery of a </strong><strong>comprehensive set of controls and budgets as well as evaluating current staffing and </strong><strong>future talent development opportunities. The design and implementation of best </strong><strong>practices to deliver outstanding performance both now and in the future will </strong><strong>encapsulate this positions objective during the first two years.</strong></p>

<p><strong>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Enhance and ensure a proper functioning internal control environment </strong><strong>throughout the organization.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Timely and accurate production of financial statements in accordance with </strong><strong>generally accepted accounting principles.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Manages the day-to-day activities of A/R, A/P, inventory control, payroll, fixed </strong><strong>assets, retail accounting and general ledger accounting through a support staff of </strong><strong>approximately 65 employees.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Development of proper organizational structure for the accounting department </strong><strong>to enable an efficient and effective operating department.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Implement efficiency based strategies that drive departmental operating </strong><strong>efficiency and effectiveness.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, </strong><strong>documents and reports. Perform analytical analysis to determine trends, </strong><strong>estimates and significant changes.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Partner with management to provide financial and operational reporting needed </strong><strong>for the effective management decision-making and management of day-to-day </strong><strong>operation.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Ensure timely and accurate regulatory compliance and filings with local, state </strong><strong>and federal governments.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Research accounting issues and propose recommendations for accounting </strong><strong>treatment. Be able to defend accounting recommendations to senior management </strong><strong>and outside consultants.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Streamline and simplify accounting chart of accounts and intercompany/ </strong><strong>interdepartmental accounting.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Hire, train, develop and evaluate staff. Take corrective action as necessary on a </strong><strong>timely basis and in accordance with company policy.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Provide leadership for the accounting staff by establishing organization and </strong><strong>accountability through effective communication.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Participates from time to time in various Executive Committees.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Ad hoc work as required CFO.</strong></p>
<p><strong>REQUIREMENTS</strong></p>
<p><strong>• 12-15 years experience in wholesale grocery related accounting operations, </strong><strong>holding progressively more responsible positions (size and complexity) </strong><strong>throughout his/her career.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Developed a high level of expertise in leading complex accounting and finance </strong><strong>operations in a fast growth company.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Worked in an environment that utilized state of the art technology systems to </strong><strong>support operations.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Has had the opportunity to be a key player in identifying system needs, selecting </strong><strong>vendors/solutions, and implementing new systems.</strong></p>
<p><strong>• Held positions within an organization that utilized metric </strong><strong>Scorecards/Dashboards to benchmark performance.</strong></p>

<p>Principle Accountabilities</p>
<p>1. Analyze all aspects of buildings and equipment to determine opportunities for infrastructureimprovements and identify those offering greatest efficiencies and conduct cost analysis.</p>
<p>2. Determine, implement, &amp; execute timeline for implementation of approved projects.</p>
<p>3. Develop RFP&#8217;s for bidding, execute contracts, and coordinate with all involved to insure apositive result.</p>
<p>4. Manage technical solutions for production and infrastructure related issues that arise. Workwith internal customers to identify problems and develop viable solutions.</p>
<p>5. Identify opportunities to increase effectiveness and efficiency to improve internal processes andstreamline cross-functional requirements. Present to VP Operations factually supported solutionsthat include ROI and the benefits of implementation.</p>
<p>6. Work with the VP Operations on developing the annual budget and ensuring that engineeringgoals and strategies are successfully executed within financial guidelines.</p>
<p>7. Manage the engineering team in a positive manner that insures that all project goals are defined,understood, and achieved.8. Hire, train, motivate, and develop the staff to optimize results and to establish excellent benchstrength to provide for future leadership.</p>
<p>Position Requirements</p>
<p>1. BS/BA Degreein Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with MS highly preferred.</p>
<p>2. 10 years in project and process engineering as well as project management.3. 3 or more years in bard manufacturing.</p>

<p>Mega-beverage processing/packaging Business Unit seeks outstanding manufacturing professional to lead a Production Team and provide vision/direction in a culture of Continuous  Improvement. This location is a fast-paced plant that processes and packages bard/beverage products. Lead 125 production professionals through highly-skilled supervisory team in a multi-shift, 24/5 operation with high-speeds, massive volumes, multiple floors and a diverse workforce.</p>
<p><strong>Ideal Candidate Profile</strong></p>
<p>You must have at least <strong>5 years combined experience as a Manager and Supervisor</strong> in a high-speed manufacturing or packaging environment that upholds bard-grade or higher quality standards. The person in this position is ideally living in Metro Chicago but other major cities in the<br />
MidWest will be considered and she/he will work out of her/his home office. Position has a<br />

<p>MAJOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:</p>
<p>1. Directly manage the current base of customers and work closely with the Director of Foodservice<br />

<strong>General Summary</strong><br />
Supervises the manufacturing plant documentation systems, which includes the control of quality<br />
systems documents (policies, procedures, work instructions, recordkeeping) and formulas<br />
(Optiva, SAP and floor formulas). Manages the plant internal audit/inspection and<br />
corrective/preventive action programs. Lead commercialization process for new products from<br />
special batch phase through initial production. Leads plant bard defense team and oversees<br />
ingredient, packaging and finished product traceability and mock recall programs. Manages<br />
product and environmental microbiological testing program. Investigates plant nonconforming<br />
product incidents and consumer complaints, conducting root cause analysis and leading<br />

<strong>Job Complexity</strong><br />
• Manage companies QA documentation including creating new documents, revising existing<br />
documents, determining training needs, overseeing the approval and distribution processes,<br />
maintaining document control database and coordinating document reviews. Manage review,<br />
storage and archiving of quality records. Fulfill requests for data and reports (ex. Corporate,<br />
environmental).<br />
• Manage product formulas by creating/revising plant floor formulas, ensuring alignment with<br />
approved Optiva formulas. SAP Power User responsible for creating, activating and maintaining<br />
BOMs, calculating cases per batch information, ingredient shelf life monitoring, and creating<br />
batch assignments. Schedule and coordinate audits to ensure formula system integrity.<br />
• Lead plant internal quality audit and monthly AIB inspection programs. Create and coordinate<br />
schedule, coordinate training, qualification and calibration of auditors, develop checklists,<br />
generate reports and follow-through with corrective action assignees to ensure CARs are<br />
completed, effectiveness is verified and audits are closed. Participate in programs as an<br />
auditor/inspector. Provide insights through external audits/inspections of other facilities.<br />
• Oversee quality aspects of special batches and new product launches by complying with PF<br />
commercialization process. Includes conducting bard safety/quality risk assessments,<br />
participation in planning/execution and securing required samples and data.<br />
• Champions plant traceability systems and mock recall exercises for ingredients, packaging and<br />
finished product. Executes plant-scheduled and Corporate-initiated trace exercises, including<br />
requests for mock recalls at the third-party DC level. Leads plant bard defense team by<br />
conducting team meetings, audits and assessments.<br />
• Manage plant microbiological testing program by performing sampling and testing, reporting<br />
results, analyzing for trends, problem solving and coordinating corrective action. Possesses<br />
knowledge of microorganisms of bard safety and regulatory significance. Responsible for<br />
validation of sampling and test methods. Includes finished product, ingredient and environmental<br />
testing.<br />
• Lead investigations of in-plant quality incidents (foreign material, nonconforming product) and<br />
consumer complaints, identifying root causes and facilitating corrective action with plant teams.<br />
Interprets and reports consumer complaint data to communicate trends and facilitate action plans.<br />
• Function as HACCP/CTS team member responsible for conducting risk assessments and<br />
organizing program reassessments for continuous improvement.<br />
• Apply continuous improvement tools and statistical methods to plant processes and systems to<br />
reduce variation and improve bard safety, quality, efficiency and cost. Identify opportunities and<br />
design plans for expanded use of the plant electronic data collection system, anticipating future<br />
applications.<br />
• Learn QA Manager responsibilities and function as back-up. Cross-train in other QA tasks to<br />
function as back-up to QA team members.<br />
<strong>Job Specifications:</strong><br />
• Minimum Education Requirements: BS Degree, 3-5 years of Relevant Experience.<br />

Quality Policies. Position has specific compliance, process, and consumer quality<br />
responsibilities. Position will manage a matrix relationship with Plant Manager, to influence<br />
senior management on alignment of Quality strategies, Quality annual objectives, and Plant<br />
project plans. Individual will coordinate and deploy Quality Assurance programs across network<br />

Title:       Sr. Manager Human Resources – Labor Relations<br />
The Sr. HR Manager partners with the management team to create and maintain an environment for people that results in Welch’s success.  Organizational expert in labor relations, acts as chief spokesperson for all labor negotiations. HR Business Partner for Operations/Supply Chain both corporately and at the plant. Other areas of responsibility include employee relations, organizational development, staffing, training and development, safety, workers’ compensation and security.</p>
<p>Principle Responsibilities/Accountabilities:<br />
Labor Relations – Develop and execute cost-effective labor relations, work structure and union collaboration strategies to improve our competitiveness and to meet the changing needs of our consumers and customers.  Organizational expert in labor relations, handling all fourth step grievances and arbitrations.  Chief spokesperson for all labor negotiations. </p>
<p>Organizational Development – Partner with the operations/supply chain senior leadership team  and plant HR  Managers to align people resources and capabilities of the organization to meet the challenges of the business.  This will include organizational planning and design, change leadership, and coaching and development strategies.  The goal is to understand business issues and implement the appropriate tools to drive employee engagement to meet required objectives.</p>
<p>Business Partner – HR Business Partner for operations/supply chain both corporately and at the plant through a dotted line relationship to the HR managers.    Facilitates providing all HR services including employee relations, organizational design, training and development, performance management and staffing.</p>
<p>Lean – Partner with the manufacturing leadership team to drive the organization’s lean initiatives.  Provide HR functional expertise in organization development, training &#038; development, job redesign, and labor relations to help transform the manufacturing culture into a Lean organization.  In addition, develop a strong knowledge of Lean principles (5S, Value Steam Mapping, Kaizen) and employ them within HR.</p>
<p>Safety – Foster a safe working environment by facilitating the development and maintenance of a  safe work environment and safe work practices.  Works with plant HR managers to develop safety committees, tracking safety reward systems, and cost efficient and effective safety training.  Consolidates and reports on safety metrics and overall worker’s compensation costs.  Shares responsibility for safety performance with plant management teams.</p>
