Director of Engineering- New England

General Summary

This person is responsible for the management of the engineering department at USA HQ in New England. This includes management of all department staff and all projects involving infrastructure,capital equipment, and technical projects. She/he has responsibility for projects from conception through scope, design, cost, & implementation. This position reports to the VP Operations.

Principle Accountabilities

1. Analyze all aspects of buildings and equipment to determine opportunities for infrastructureimprovements and identify those offering greatest efficiencies and conduct cost analysis.

2. Determine, implement, & execute timeline for implementation of approved projects.

3. Develop RFP’s for bidding, execute contracts, and coordinate with all involved to insure apositive result.

4. Manage technical solutions for production and infrastructure related issues that arise. Workwith internal customers to identify problems and develop viable solutions.

5. Identify opportunities to increase effectiveness and efficiency to improve internal processes andstreamline cross-functional requirements. Present to VP Operations factually supported solutionsthat include ROI and the benefits of implementation.

6. Work with the VP Operations on developing the annual budget and ensuring that engineeringgoals and strategies are successfully executed within financial guidelines.

7. Manage the engineering team in a positive manner that insures that all project goals are defined,understood, and achieved.8. Hire, train, motivate, and develop the staff to optimize results and to establish excellent benchstrength to provide for future leadership.

Position Requirements

1. BS/BA Degreein Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with MS highly preferred.

2. 10 years in project and process engineering as well as project management.3. 3 or more years in bard manufacturing.

4. Demonstrated ability to manage all phases of projects independently.

5. Ability to manage/partner with multi-disciplinary teams towards achieving common goals.

6. People management experience required.

Industrial Engineer – New England

General Summary
The individual in this position is responsible for working closely with the Operations Team to
develop and improve labor production standards for new and existing processes. This person will
work closely with Project Engineering and will be actively involved in all aspects of assigned
projects to include conception, development, justification & implementation to completion. This
person reports to the Engineering Manager.

Principle Accountabilities
1. Analyze all operational functions–processing, packaging, and warehousing functions to
determine opportunities for improvements; apply statistical methods & calculations to
develop best manufacturing practices, staff requirements, and production standards.
2. Work directly with internal customers and technical resources to develop solutions for
operational functions that address short and long term issues. Present a factually based
proposal for management, including ROI and all benefits.
3. Determine, implement, and execute a timeline for the development and implementation on all
approved projects. Follow up to insure timelines are met and on budget.
4. Draft and design layouts of equipment, production lines, and workspaces to illustrate maximum
efficiency and safe operation.

Position Requirements
• A BS in industrial engineering with an MS in engineering preferred.
• Five years industrial engineering experience within a manufacturing firm with at least
2 years in bard manufacturing.
• Ability to analyze operational issues and develop solutions that work.
• AutoCad, Word, Excel experience required.
• Excellent analytical capabilities and creative problem solving skills required.
• Excellent presentation skills required.

Packaging Development Engineer – Northeast

This position reports to the Corporate Packaging Manager and has responsibility for leading the research, development, and commercialization of new packaging technologies and systems. This position will be responsible for leading Operations/Engineering driven packaging projects for gross margin savings or other strategic initiatives. The Packaging Development Engineer will also serve as the subject matter expert and lead for packaging material and equipment development as part of cross-functional project teams led by Brand Development.

I. Responsibilities

• Manage the development and commercialization of new packaging materials, technologies, and systems.
• Lead the identification and implementation of Gross Margin improvement opportunities related to packaging materials and packaging operations.
• Lead package material qualifications and support Quality Department on vendor quality audits. Key technical point of contact with package material vendors.
• Support plant Continuous Improvement team efforts related to packaging material delivery and performance.
• Support Procurement and Supply Chain packaging initiatives for supply continuity and risk management by providing input to RFP process and conducting new vendor qualifications.
• Lead identification and resolution of packaging material complaints and issues as required.
• Leads the commissioning and provides ongoing support of companies packaging at contract partners and 3rd party manufacturers.
• Understand the performance versus cost implications of packaging materials and identify alternatives.
• Identify and exploit new packaging technologies to bring competitive advantage and/or superior consumer experience to the company.
• Develop project plans, CAPEX requests and budgets for assigned projects.
• Coordinates testing as required at third party laboratories, pilot plants, or production facilities.
• Manages and executes multiple plans and identifies issues or obstacles, gains alignment and brings all to resolution.
• Ensure compliance to regulatory and company policies and procedures.
• Serve as lead for sustainable packaging activities and customer scorecard requirements
• Develop and maintain Packaging Material Specifications and documentation for assigned projects
• Develop and maintain packaging test methods and operational procedures
• Stays abreast of new technologies through networking, trade shows, professional organizations
• Effectively participate in cross-functional teams

II. Position Specific Education & Experience

Education: BS degree in Packaging Science/Engineering or equivalent. MS degree preferred.

Professional Experience:

• 2-6 years experience in packaging materials development and engineering with a top Beverage/Food/CPG company
• Experience with packaging development for beverages, wine and spirits, or carbonated soft drinks would be strongly preferred
• Broad base packaging material knowledge including glass bottles, metal and plastic closures, labels, corrugated cartons, paperboard cartons and carriers, adhesives, stretch film. Glass packaging experience is a must.
• Experience and exposure to a variety of high speed beverage packaging equipment including de-palletizers, rinsers, fillers, pasteurizers, labelers, case packers, and palletizers.
• Thorough process capability/control knowledge and understanding.
• Formal continuous improvement (e.g. six sigma) training and experience is preferred.
• Expertise with TOPS or CAPE palletization software.
• Knowledge of packaging Specification Systems and databases
• Proficiency with AutoCAD LT or equivalent.
• Familiarity with carton design software such as ArtiosCAD or Score would be a plus.
• Familiarity with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks would be a plus, but not required

• 25-30% travel required depending on location.

Senior Project Engineer – New England

This individual will be responsible for the planning, development, & coordination of technical
infrastructure projects of various types. This person will be actively involved in all aspects of
assigned projects to include conception, development, & implementation to completion. This
position reports to the Director of Engineering.

Principle Accountabilities
1. Conduct research and data analysis to identify opportunities which will provide cost effective,
long and short term solutions. Follow that up with a feasibility analysis for proposed solutions
to accommodate Production, QA, and Management requirements in an optimal proposal, which
would include a budget for the project.
2. Work directly with internal customers to develop technical solutions to problems which arise and
prepare a proposal & budget which the internal customers agree with and present to management.
3. Determine, implement, and execute a timeline for the development and implementation on all
approved projects. Follow up to insure timelines are met and on budget.
4. Coordinate engineering & construction projects including bid process and vendor shipment. Also
work with on-site personnel including construction crews and our employees to insure everyone
involved is properly trained to operate all equipment and controls.

Position Requirements
• A BS in mechanical or electrical engineering with an MS in engineering preferred.
• Five to ten years project & process engineering experience within a manufacturing
firm required with at least 3-5 years of project management experience in bard
manufacturing.
• Ability to start, address, & prioritize project issues independently and juggle multiple
projects with minimal supervision.
• AutoCad, Word, Excel experience required.
• Excellent analytical capabilities and creative problem solving skills required.
• Excellent presentation skills required.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
